Marimba Music in the Mountains of the Scenic Rim.
Amazing Country Value from $242.50 per person for a 2 night Value package with a candle-light dinner.
The Australian bush is always full of surprises and South East Queensland's Scenic Rim could surprise even the most jaded traveller. There's music in the mountains of the Scenic Rim and it is music which matches the natural beauty of Lake Moogerah where Zengarra Country House a small boutique hotel/bed and breakfast sits on the slopes of Mount Greville, one of the prettiest mountains in the majestic Scenic Rim.
The beauty and luxury of the house make a perfect setting for the music made by co-owner Christine Leah who this year celebrates 50 years of performing on the Marimba from the Royal Albert Hall in London to Boonah via Hong Kong. Guests staying at Zengarra have only to ask and Christine will play some of her favourite music. The sounds of her Marimba, often self accompanied on the Clavinova, blend into the never quite silent Bush-landscape and produce a tranquil but intense experience for not just the guests but also the visiting song birds, which pause to appreciate and then sometimes accompany her playing. Come and listen yourself.
Zengarra also offers fine dining and Christine prides herself on staying abreast of the latest culinary trends and even features her interpretations of the Master Chef recipes we have all recently seen demonstrated. The fine dining is prepared as far as possible from seasonal fresh local ingredients, all on the premises. Zengarra has beautifully appointed suites and guests dine at the 200-year-old French antique dining table before adjourning to the library or the Chesterfield in front of the roaring log fire or even just to sit on the deck and marvel at the clarity of the Scenic Rim skies. A night sky with more stars than you ever knew existed.
If all this sounds too expensive even for a new world city like Brisbane, the surprising thing is that this peaceful private experience is available little more than an hour's drive from the CBD and it has country prices as well, so you get real value for money. And don’t forget the many things you can do in the Scenic Rim. Zengarra has dozens of activities and itineraries listed on their website
Where else can you have a private suite in a large country house, an individually cooked breakfast, a recital of piano and Marimba music and a five course candlelight dinner, before curling up on the Chesterfield with a Scenic Rim port and a good book or DVD all for the cost of car-parking in Brisbane? It just doesn’t get any better than this.
